OUR STORY
HOW IT ALL BEGAN

At Weaver’s, we take great pride in being part of communities that support locally owned small businesses. Thanks to this support, we are able to give back by contributing to local schools’ athletic and academic programs, little league associations, youth soccer leagues, 4-H, and various community fundraising events.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of employing wonderful people—mothers, fathers, grandparents, and college students working their way through school. Many of our employees stay with us throughout their college years, and we are proud to see them go on to successful careers. We have “graduated” teachers, law enforcement officers, a high-ranking military officer, nurses, engineers, a future doctor, a speech pathologist, business and finance majors, and many more. We are proud to help develop fine young adults as they enter the workforce.

For years, we were asked daily, “Where can I get beer?” or “Are you serious, you don’t sell beer?” After many requests and with the space available, we decided to put it to a vote. We asked the residents of Washington Township to vote on allowing beer and other adult beverages in the township. Out of respect for the neighboring church, we chose not to place alcohol at our Dry Run store location. However, after acquiring the former Hall’s Gas Station, we felt it would be a good place to petition for alcohol sales. The response from voters was overwhelmingly positive.

We are excited to create more jobs here in West Portsmouth. Before we opened, people had to drive into the city or surrounding townships to purchase beer, wine, and spirits. Now, they can support their local business and keep their hard-earned money in the community. The tax revenue from these sales will directly benefit our local area. As the saying goes, “If you want a beer, you’ll go get yourself a beer!” So why not purchase it from your local small business and help support the community?

The Rusty Cork offers both a drive-thru and walk-in service, with a wide selection of domestic beers, craft beers, wine, other adult beverages, Ohio Lottery, and convenience store items.

We ask that all patrons drink responsibly and respect the law.
